Crosslinked polyethylene used as insulation for cables has greater heat resistance than PVC. It can be used long-term at 90℃ and its highest heat resistance temperature during short circuit can reach 250℃. It has high insulation resistance, low dielectric loss tangent that barely changes with temperature, and good wear and environmental stress cracking resistance.
When cross link polyethylene cables burn, they emit carbon dioxide and water, while PVC cables release the harmful gas hydrogen chloride. Also, cross-linked polyethylene has a density about 40% smaller than PVC, which can significantly reduce the weight of overhead lines.
Currently, major petrochemical companies abroad produce cross link polyethylene cable materials.
Pipes made from cross link polyethylene have the advantages of high creep strength, corrosion resistance, lightweight, and good heat resistance. Aluminum-plastic composite pipes using cross-linked polyethylene have strong air tightness, high burst resistance, antistatic and shielding properties.
Compared to PVC and ordinary polyethylene pipes, cross link polyethylene pipes do not contain plasticizers, do not mold or breed bacteria, and do not contain harmful substances. They comply with FDA standards and can be used for drinking water pipes. They have good heat resistance with a range from -75℃ to 90℃, withstanding a maximum instantaneous temperature of 185℃ and can withstand -75℃ low temperature. They have a wide range of usage temperatures and can be used for up to 50 years.
Due to the excellent properties of cross link polyethylene pipe material and its completely nontoxic and sanitary nature, it has been regarded as a new generation of green pipes. They are mainly used in the following areas:
Cold and hot water supply systems and pipeline drinking water systems in buildings;
Air conditioning chilled water systems in buildings;
Residential heating systems;
Ground heating systems;
Household water heater system piping;
Beverage, liquor, milk and other fluid transportation pipelines in the food industry;
Fluid transport pipelines in the chemical and petroleum industries;
Refrigeration system and water treatment system pipelines.
Crosslinked polyethylene foam has excellent low temperature resistance, weather resistance, wear resistance, insulation, chemical resistance, insulation, flotation, and cushioning properties. It is also nontoxic, odorless, and has good secondary processing properties. It can be cut, thermoformed, embossed, vacuum-formed, and also be combined with other materials.
Crosslinked polyethylene foam is widely used. In the construction industry, it can be used as roof insulation and cushioning material, antifreeze sheet materials, cushioning materials, etc. In the industrial field, it can be used as insulation materials for cold storage and pipe insulation materials. In the automotive field, it can be used as an interior ceiling, luggage compartment, floor mat, heat insulation mat, side panel, car door waterproof curtain, etc. In the packaging industry, it can be used as cushioning and protective materials for household appliances, medical devices, glassware, fruit, etc. In agriculture, it can be used as room temperature insulation materials, etc.
